EQUILIBRIUM

Equilibrium is reached when the rate of forming products and the rate of products reverting back to reactants is the same.  At this point, the forward and reverse reactions are progressing at the same rate so the concentrations stay constant.  This doesn't mean that the concentrations of the forward and reverse reactions are equal!  This downloadable study guide includes explanations of Le Chatlier's principle, the equilibrium constant, and how to use ICE tables to determine concentrations when a reaction is at equilibrium.
